BLADE SHOW!!!

I'm in the last few days of getting inventory ready for the Blade Show coming up June 3-5 in Atlanta, GA, and things are nutty as all get out around here.  So, if you have sent me an e-mail and I haven't responded yet, be patient with me.  If you haven't heard from me by June 15th, please go ahead and send me another e-mail.

I've had a couple of setbacks, but if I can pull off what I have in progress I should have a good two tables' worth.  Here's a preview of a couple of carcass splitters that will be with me!

Simple camp chopper

This was intended to be part of my Blade Show inventory, but a fellow spotted it on Instagram before it was finished and wanted it, and I needed the money to stay ahead of bills, so I finished it out and headed it his way.

Here's what caught his attention.  Still with oil baked on from the heat treatment, with a loose paracord wrap temporarily on it to protect my hand from the rough edges of the tang while doing a bit of test cutting.  Steel is 80CrV2, blade is a bit under 12" long.

He liked the look of the temporary wrap, so I laid a foundation of neoprene to bulk up the handle and did a single layer of paracord with a two-strand Turk's head knot before applying the marine epoxy.  The end of the wrap leaving the corners of the tang exposed is something I haven't tried before, but definitely will be doing again!  I did keep it (and myself) away from the poison ivy on the edge of the photo.

And a basic OD Kydex sheath to round out the package.

It got to him a day ahead of when it was slated to.  He was very happy with the heft, balance, and handling.  :)

Now to forge some more along these lines for Blade...

Pointy Little Rok off to Pakistan

This was a rush job to get done for a former Naval Special Warfare member who was heading over to Pakistan.  Got it to him the day before his flight.  :)  He was close enough that he met me halfway and I hand delivered it.  Double edged, 80CrV2 steel, black oxide finish, Tero Tuf, flared stainless steel tubing rivets, and Kydex sheath.

I knew he wanted to wear it on his belt, but wasn't sure about the position, so I took a Combat Loop and installed it as he waited.  He asked for it set up for right hand draw scout carry.

Tobin Nieto on Forged in Fire

My buddy Tobin Nieto of Stonehaven Knifeworks will be in the episode of Forged in Fire on the History Channel next Tuesday, April 5.  Here he is with a couple of his knives.

Burt Reynolds, eat your heart out.

Authentic forged knives

Here's some of the work that has left my shop since the last time I posted, from smallest to largest.  Everything is 80CrV2 steel with Tero Tuf or marine epoxy-impregnated paracord handles, with one exception.

This double-edged, slightly pointier-than-usual variation of my Little Rok pattern went to a fellow in Special Forces.  He ordered it with black oxide finish.

A couple of different Benghazi Warfighters that went to different customers.

A couple of different Benghazi Warfighters that went to the same customer.  The cord wrapped one is black on black and double edged.

This double-edged Benghazi Warfighter has a hardened, beveled skullcrusher and handle slabs of Warwood, a corn-based product used in the IED-resistant bellies of MRAPS.

And this big ol' Bowie has an 11" blade, is 2 5/16" wide at the base of the blade, and has a false edge.

And this ridiculous thing has been heat treated since this photo was taken, but still needs the handle wrapped.  Think it'll be with me at the Blade Show if someone doesn't take a shine to it beforehand.
